Welcome to the very basic vanilla page where you can:

Nota bene

I have been reading through the ESV translation using Professor Horner's system for a couple of years now, and it has transformed my biblical understanding and comprehension. Because you read through 10 chapters a day from various sections of the Bible, you get a much better grasp of the cohesiveness of scripture. I came up with the idea of creating a playlist to listen to it while doing mundane chores (like shelling walnuts) and found a really nice slightly-dramatized ESV audio version that I downloaded from Faith Comes By Hearing. This was also an excellent choice. The audio renditions are almost like a radio theater version, but not with sound effects and such, so it's engaging but not distracting from the scripture.

Audio is also an excellent way to memorize more easily for some folks, so this could be a great resource for anyone who is looking to work on scripture memory. No playlist needed - just download the mp3 files to your device and listen any way you want to.

Please note that the only change that I have made to the mp3 files is to rename the filenames to the ones that I already had put together for the playlist. You can download the originals from the Faith Comes By Hearing website if you want the original deal. I had already invested a lot of time in putting together the playlist (more on that in a minute) and it was much easier to just rename the filenames rather than the other way around.

Because of the perpetual re-shuffling inherent in the Horner system, you will most likely never in your lifetime read the same 10 chapters together twice. I can say that because I did the math when I started to come up with the playlist using a spread sheet. To read through the plan as designed and come back to the same chapter grouping as day 1 again would take 5,845,262,923,500 days, which works out to 16,003,457,696.09856 years (yes, you read those numbers correctly, that's 16+ billion years). While I realize that's just the start of eternity, it's a bit past the typical lifespan here on the planet, so the playlist that I hope to finish up will only be about 10 years worth of listening (it's currently at 2 years worth of listening at 10 chapters per day, but I will update it as I get the opportunity)

How to make use of the playlist and audio files

I'd suggest downloading (1) the renamed audio files and (2) the playlist and put them all together in a single folder on whatever device you're using. Then use your favorite media player to open the playlist. If you have the playlist and audio files in the same folder then it should be easy-peasy. If they're not, then you're going to have get tech-savvy and point the playlist to the folder with the files. That may vary depending on your device and/or your media player. That's your realm, not mine ;)

Also, if you have mp3 files of an audio Bible that you really like, you could always rename those filenames to "fit" the playlist names OR change the filenames in the m3u that I came up with. The m3u playlist is simply a text file (.txt) that has had the suffix changed to ".m3u" for playlist usage. You can edit it in WordPad or any other text file editor, and then use that in your media player.

I hope that you will find these files and playlist helpful in your pursuit of knowing God through His holy word.

Grace and shalom,

Sherry
